Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim is a Professor of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka-1207, Bangladesh. He received his Bachelor degree in Agriculture (1st Class and 2nd merit position) and MS in Genetics and Plant Breeding (CGPA: 3.96 out of 4.00) at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in 2002 and 2007, respectively. He obtained his PhD from Doctoral School of Crop Science, University of Padova, Padova, Italy in February 2014, where he studied as a CARIPARO PhD Scholar and his research was focused on MYB and bHLH trancription factors and their functional role in peach fruit. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Horticulture at the Suncheon National University, South Korea from October 2016 to October 2018 and worked on Molecular Breeding. After that he received Higher Training on Molecular Breeding focusing on Development of Molecular Markers from October 2018 to July 2019 at the Suncheon National University, South Korea. He attended a number of international and national conferences. He published 68 articles in SCI-indexed journals including, Planta, Frontiers in Plant Sciences, Frontiers in Genetics, International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IJMS), BMC Genomics, Evolution & Development, Genome, Plants, Agronomy, PLoS ONE, Botany, Canadian Journal of Plant Science, Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Microorganisms, The Plant Pathology Journal, Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology, Molecular Biology Reports, Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Tree Genetics & Genomes, Acta Horticulturae etc. Besides, he contributed book chapters in different edited books. He also developed a health-promoting vegetable variety 'SAU Rucola-1'.
