Dr. Mirza Synthia Sabrin is an Associate Professor of Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She obtained her Ph.D. from Research Centre for Global Agromedicine, Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido, Japan. Her main domain of research interest includes, uncovering the virucidal activity of naturally derived components, antiviral immune response, detecting antimicrobial resistance pattern in microbes collected from food samples and analyzing the immune response capability of animals against infections. She has successfully discovered virucidal compounds extracted from Mongolian Medicinal Plant extract against Human Norovirus by using Feline Calicivirus surrogate and published her research findings on Phytochemistry journal.
Her goal is to apply her research skill in biological science, to reduce the national economical loss caused by various microbes and to find out prevention and cures of those diseases by using naturally derived antimicrobial agents.
As a teacher she inspires students to achieve the fundamental knowledge of a particular subject and build up the problems solving capacity, critical thinking and co-operative skills among them. At the same time, she motivates the students to understand the basic principles of research and perform advance research for the improvement of health and environment.
